Just turn up at your venue of choice and eat, drink and be merry. After all, that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? Being merry?
Perhaps heading out to a child friendly restaurant for Christmas lunch or dinner might be just the ticket. And there’s some good news- almost every venue that’s open on Christmas Day is child friendly. Even if on a normal day they don’t have any particularly child friendly features, restaurants, pubs and hotels go to an effort to make the day for for parents, carers and kids lots of fun.
So if you are keen to head out on Christmas Day, there’s a few things to keep in mind. The biggest one is don’t forget to book. Christmas day is a big deal and venues are looking at some serious logistics for everyone to enjoy themselves on the day. Also, the functions often book out. So when you find your perfect place for Christmas Day, don’t forget to ring and book as soon as you you decide.
Many places aren’t open on Christmas Day (another good reason to get in and book early). The best bet is to investigate the big hotels and large pubs and restaurants for Christmas Day functions. It could be a real treat to head off to one of the big fancy hotels or restaurants in the city to enjoy a great meal to celebrate the day. Many of the large pubs around town have dedicated play areas for the kids so they don’t have to be sitting at the table for the length of the meal. Almost everywhere will have a visit from Santa. Venues that don’t have dedicated play areas for the kids will often make arrangements for there to be somewhere for the kids, like a kid’s corner or jumping castle.
Eating out on Christmas Day can be expensive. Anywhere from $85 for adults and up would be expected for a Christmas day lunch or dinner. Kid’s pricing usually depends on their age and more often than not, the pricing is tiered depending on their age. By the time you’ve paid for 2 adults and 2 kids or more to eat, you may find that it’s a fairly expensive day out. However, when you consider the grocery bill you have for Christmas Day, the hours of preparation and clean up afterwards, you may find the price tag is worth it. Particularly when you consider you’ll be waited on hand and foot. And did I mention no clean up? Nice!
