The Emporium Hotel South Bank is the Perfect Romantic Getaway

Get Out with Kids – Editor, Janine and her partner recently stayed at the Emporium Hotel South Bank for a romantic two-night getaway. If you’re looking for a luxury stay that blends relaxation, style and a touch of indulgence, this one absolutely deserves a spot on your “must-stay” list.

From the moment we arrived, the whole experience felt like a treat — beautiful spaces, attentive staff, incredible views and everything you need for a getaway where you can truly unwind.

So… want to make some memories with your favourite person? Here’s what you need to know!

Where is the Emporium Hotel?

The Emporium Hotel is located at 267 Grey Street, South Bank, right in the heart of one of the most vibrant precincts in the city. Step outside and you’re moments from the river, cafes, bars, lush parklands and the buzzing cultural district.

We spent time wandering along South Bank, enjoying some city shopping and sneaking in a few riverfront drinks — but the hotel itself is so lovely that you’ll want to spend a good chunk of your stay inside.

Why We Loved Our Stay

There are so many reasons to fall in love with the Emporium, but let’s start with the standout: it has that wow factor. The kind you feel every time you arrive back at the hotel after a day out, and think, “Oh yes… this is where I’m staying!”

Our Room: Luxe + Comfort

Take my word for it when I tell you to get the suite with the river view!

We stayed in one of the hotel’s beautifully appointed suites, and it really did set the tone for a relaxing escape. Think plush bedding, mood lighting, a gorgeous bathroom, and thoughtful little touches that make your stay feel special.

Many suites overlook the Brisbane River or the city skyline — an absolute treat first thing in the morning or when you’re winding down at night.

Get Out with(out) Kids Tip: Choose a river or city view room if you can. Watching the skyline light up at dusk is chef’s kiss for a romantic night in.

The Rooftop Pool — An Absolute Must

Let’s be honest… rooftop pools are already impressive, but the Emporium takes it one step further.

The 23-metre infinity edge pool sits on Level 21 and gives you panoramic views over the river and city. It’s heated (so yes — you can swim comfortably all year), and open from early morning through to late evening.

We visited several times and loved every moment, especially floating in warm water while the sky shifted colours over the city.

Alongside the pool you’ll find:

  • a sauna
  • steam room
  • cold plunge
  • state-of-the-art gym
  • a calming spa offering massages and wellness treatments

Get Out with(out) Kids Tip: Go for an early morning dip — you’ll almost have the whole pool to yourself, and the sunrise is magic.

Dining & Drinks

One thing the Emporium does exceptionally well is create spaces that feel elegant but still relaxed and welcoming.

You can choose from the stylish hotel restaurant, rooftop bars, or order in-suite dining (which we loved after a big day walking around South Bank and the city).

Cocktails at the rooftop bar at sunset? Highly, highly recommend.

Get Out with(out) Kids Tip: If you’re celebrating something special, let the staff know — they often go above and beyond to make your stay feel even more memorable.

What We Did Nearby (In Between Relaxing)

While this post is all about the hotel, it’s worth noting that the location is perfect for grown-up date days or nights.

During our stay we enjoyed:

  • wandering the South Bank Parklands
  • exploring the galleries and cultural precinct
  • popping into the CBD for coffee, cocktails and a little shopping
  • riverfront strolls at sunset (always romantic!)

But at the same time… you could happily spend two full days inside the hotel and feel just as satisfied.
