Grand by name, grand by nature!
It has probably been said before – but this certainly is a ‘grand’ hotel. It is truly breath-taking from the minute you arrive in the grand entrance and lobby! With an absolute beachfront location (the only hotel on the Gold Coast able to claim this!), the hotel is nestled amongst tropical palms and lush gardens. It also boasts 6 hectares of sparkling lagoons and is just a stones throw from all the amenities of the Gold Coast.
The accommodation options
Before I tell you about the range of accommodation options, I have to tell you about the beds… well more specifically the mattresses on the beds. They are AMAZING! From someone who doesn’t sleep very well, these mattresses are heaven. It wasn’t until I did some investigating, that I found out why they are so good!
The hotel has its own range of beds! And you can buy them directly from the hotel! I was not asked to talk about this specific part of our stay, but I really wanted to share just how luxurious these beds are and how awesome my sleep was!
Here is what they say on their website:
The Sheraton Signature bed is exclusively designed to eliminate uncomfortable pressure points that cause tossing and turning, it will improve your circulation for a better night’s sleep. Now recovering from a long flight, an intense workout or just a hectic day is as easy as closing your eyes. All rooms and suites at Sheraton Grand Gold Coast feature the Sheraton Signature Bed. Capture our celebrated sleep experience at home.
So, there you go. If you book your family into a stay here, expect an awesome night’s sleep… for everyone!
Now, back to the accommodation.
There are multiple types of rooms available at the resort, which means you can find the right combination for your family!
Guest Rooms
At the hotel you can choose from rooms with King beds, 2 x Queen beds, Studios or 2 or 3 bedroom Villas. They can have Resort Views, Garden Views, Lagoon Views, or Ocean Views. They even have a Presidential Suite on the top floor with an ocean view! That is the above photo – oh la la! Luxurious!
Our accommodation – 2 bedroom Villa
We stayed in a 2 bedroom Villa (number 33 if you want to book exactly what we had!) and it was divine! My room had a king sized bed (and that amazing mattress) with my own TV and the kids had a twin room.
There was a gorgeous ‘sunk-in’ living room with a flat screen tv, a full kitchen with dishwasher and full sized fridge as well as a luxurious bathroom for the kids and ensuite for me!
Get Out with Kids Tip: Wifi is complimentary to all guests.

Family friendly resort facilities
After we investigated the villa, we took full advantage of the rest of the hotel’s offerings. And there were many!
Swimming pools
The whole hotel is infinitely Instagram-able! Everything is luxurious with an abundance of attention to detail. Speaking of Instagram, watch our Instagram Reel and come on a walk through the hotel facilities with us!
The hotel has two swimming pools: The Oasis Pool and the Villa Pool (we show you both in our reel).
Oasis Pool
This pool is open Monday to Sunday from 6:00am – 6:00pm. It is their large, heated outdoor pool that provides towels and has a children’s pool attached. The Oasis pool also boasts the swim-up Oasis Pool Bar (clue is in the name!) 😉
Villa Pool
This pool is used by the people who are staying in the villas. It is a smaller outdoor heated pool and it is closer to the villa accommodation. It is open Monday – Sunday 6:00am-6:00pm.
Beach access
As mentioned above, the hotel has direct beach access. There is a life-guard patrolled beach right outside the hotel – you just open the back gate and walk out onto the golden sands of the stunning beach – there is no road to cross! That makes it super safe for little kids as well as big kids too!
Bike paths
The concierge can help you organise bike hire, and you definitely should. There is nearly 40kms of designated flat, beachside bicycle paths to enjoy with your family!
Kids Club
As our stay coincided with school holidays, we noted that the hotel also provides kids’ club activities throughout. The night we stayed there was a kids movie – The Lego Movie. Check the photo above; there is a fully decked out kids entertainment room. It was hard to get my kiddos to leave here (we did in fact miss The Lego Movie in favour of playing in here!)
Terraces Restaurant
The hotel has 4 restaurants and bars – Terraces Restaurant, Pearls Bar, The Deck and Oasis Pool Bar.
Our stay included dinner and breakfast in Terraces Restaurant – and we are SO glad it did! You’ve probably heard about Terraces Restaurant because we write about it (often) in our articles about best buffets on the Gold Coast. There’s a reason why it makes that list!
Terraces Restaurant buffet dinner
On the seafood buffet there were king prawns, oysters, crab, Moreton Bay Bugs and a variety of fish. There was of course all the other delights you would expect to see on a buffet – roast meats, vegetables, salads, soups, decadent desserts and drinks. The night we were there they also had ‘Taste of Asia’ Laksa station with a variety of options to make your own Laksa noodle soup. Yum!
Terraces Restaurant buffet breakfast
Our breakfast was also included so we could share with you our experience of dining at the buffet in the morning too. The best thing to do is watch our Facebook Live video walk through below. You get a good feel for the range as I walk you through all the food stations. I asked the kids what they liked the most on the breakfast buffet.
- Master 16: The personalised omelettes.
- Master 14: The self-made juice bar.
- Miss 13: The waffles and ice-cream (she found them!)
Watch my video walk through of our buffet breakfast:
You will find this restaurant in our Best Buffets on the Gold Coast article and on our Seafood Buffets on the Gold Coast article.
Get Out with Kids tip: ask for a table with a view of the swimming pools!
Terraces Restaurant is ideal for families, with high chairs and a range of menu items on the buffet to suit even the fussiest of eaters.
